Magic: The Gathering Toolbar

Welcome on the “Magic: The Gathering Toolbar” page on Software Engineering on the loose.

After some great amount of work, the Magic: The Gathering Toolbar version 1.1 for Firefox is available for download. Please find a screenshot of the toolbar in work:

How does the toolbar work?

Basically you have two options available to search for cards:

  1. You know the card’s exact name
    • In this case all you need to do is to enter the card’s name into the textbox, leave the “Exact Cardname?” checkbox checked and simply click on the Search button. If you really entered the correct name, you will see the card’s details immediately.
  2. You are not sure about the card’s name or you’d like to browse cards
    • In this scenario, enter the term you’d like to search for, untick the “Exact Cardname?” option. This will enable the three drop down lists, each of them giving you some filter criteria. The first drop down list contains the colours of the cards, the second contains the types of cards while the third one contains the sorting criteria.
After you selected all your filtering / sorting options click Search, and you will see a list of results.

You will be able to download this toolbar from the Firefox Add-Ons page and from this site as well. The toolbar is being checked now and it’s only available from the Firefox Add-Ons Sandbox. (If you are interested in taking a look at the toolbar on Mozilla’s Website, feel free to download it from here.)

Can I install the toolbar from your website?

It is also possible to install the extension for Firefox directly from here. First you need to add my website to the sites that you trust (if you click on the installation below, you will receive a warning anyway, so you can do it at that time). You can download the toolbar from here.

Does this toolbar work with Firefox 3 beta?

Yes, it does. (There are two versions of this toolbar, version 1.0 is not compatible with Firefox 3, but I tried to make sure that you get the newest version (version 1.1) from everywhere, which is compatible with Firefox 3.)
